White Center Early Learning Initiative

We are now enrolling infants, toddlers and children (birth-to-five) for programs beginning in late February 2010.

All Educare and Head Start Programs Provide:

Highly trained teachers

Emphasis on Kindergarten readiness

Health and developmental screenings for children

Activities which build self-esteem, social skills, and physical skills

Nutritious meals and snacks

Interpreters for family conferences

Family support services

Information and referrals to community services and resources

Information on health, nutrition and child development

Family events

Full-Day Educare Program (at Educare Early Learning Center)

The year-round, full-day (Monday through Friday, 7am-6pm) Educare program is for infants, toddlers and children (birth-to-five). Sorry, transportation is not provided.

Small class size

Focus on language and literacy

Emphasis on social-emotional development to promote school readiness

On-site family support services

Children work with the same teacher for several years

Prenatal services

Part of Educare and Head Start national network of early learning program

Eligibility: Familes must qualify for Working Connections Child Care subsidy via DSHS or have another form of subsidy. Contact us at (206) 762-6070 if you have questions.

Half-Day Head Start Program (at Highline Head Start)

The half-day program is children ages three-to-five and runs from September to June, Monday through Thursday. Morning and afternoon sessions are available. Transportation is usually provided.

Eligibility: Head Start is free to income eligible families and children with disabilities. Contact us at (206) 762-6070 if you have questions.

Applications are being accepted now. Classes will begin in late February 2010.

Income-eligible families in the White Center/Boulevard Park area with children ages birth-to-five are encouraged to apply for enrollment!
