Public Health–Seattle & King County identifies and promotes the conditions under which all people can live within healthy communities and can achieve optimal health.

Home Based Services
As part of the White Center Early Learning Initiative (WCELI), home visiting services in the White Center neighborhoods provide more intensive assistance to higher risk families, from pre-birth to the youngest child’s second birthday, addressing a wide range of family needs and circumstances. All expecting families living within the WCELI geographic area will be offered nurse home visiting services to increase the levels of attachment and support.

Additional services include:

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program and First Steps

Low income pregnant and parenting women and children to age 5
WIC provides supplemental food vouchers and nutrition education and counseling
First Steps is a Medicaid program that includes education and support services from nurses, nutritionists, social workers and community health workers

Enhanced First Steps

Families enrolled in First Steps who may benefit from a longer, more intensive program of home visiting
Two public health nurses, one social worker, and a nutrition consultation
Highline School District Teen Parent Program
Pregnancy (or early post partum) through the youngest child's second birthday

Nurse Family Partnership

First time, low-income pregnant and parenting women age 23 and under
Four Public Health Nurses providing education and intensive support to life goals and parenting
Before the 28th week of pregnancy through the child's second birthday
