The Educare Early Learning Center serves as the hub for the White Center Early Learning Initiative (WCELI) services and offers full-day Educare/Head Start programs as well as a professional development center.
The Center directly serves 134 children, including infants and toddlers, in full-day, full-year programs that encompass high quality child development, health, and family support. The programs incorporate Head Start and Early Head Start, and are available to children from low income families in the greater White Center area, outside of Seattle.
All 3,000 children in White Center can benefit in some way from the WCELI and Educare activities offered at the center. Services for the entire community include educational activities focused on supporting early parent/caregiver-child relationships, which enhance the home learning environment and the skills and knowledge of parents as first teachers.
The Educare Professional Development Center works closely with Child Care Resources to provide training and quality enhancement opportunities for parents, child care providers and informal care givers.
In a broader sense, the over 300,000 young children receiving out of home care in the state of Washington benefit from the Educare Early Learning Center as a model demonstration site displaying best practices and development of new strategies for early learning. The Educare Early Learning Center is the 10th Educare site in the United States, and is part of the Bounce Early Learning Network, committed to improving the quality of early childhood programs.
