White Center Early Learning Initiative

The White Center Early Learning Initiative (WCELI) is an integral partner in the renewal of the White Center/Boulevard Park neighborhood, just south of Seattle. By bringing a full complement of state of the art, research-based, early learning opportunities to the children, families and early learning providers of these communities, WCELI is helping to improve the whole community.

The mission of WCELI is to transform the White Center neighborhood into a place in which everyone in the community understands the importance of early learning, participates and invests time and resources in early learning activities, and does so because they believe that support for early learning is critical to the success of their children, their families and their community.

But, our goals are even broader and more ambitious than that.

WCELI is one of two Thrive by Five Washington early learning demonstration communities in the state (along with Ready by Five in East Yakima). We are testing strategies and approaches that can be replicated statewide, helping to build a better system of early learning for the entire state.
